In February 2013, I filed a Small Claims case in Portland District court and waited for a Hearing Notice mail to me. This is standard procedure. Then the unthinkable happened. I received a formed memo from the court stating that the case was dismissed because plaintiff and defendant did not appear. I was levied because I did not receive a Hearing Notice and have lived in the same address for over 18 years. I requested that the case be rescheduled but the court denied because their records show that "a Hearing Notice was sent to your mailing address." This is blatantly false. A Hearing Notice was not mailed to me and its no coincidence that both parties did not appear. It’s also logical to assume that the court’s deceptive behavior is inextricably linked to a previous controversial judgment that granted full custody of my 3 year-old daughter to my spiteful ex-wife.  She told the court that I abused and threatened to kill them; the court completely agreed and ordered that I pick up my daughter in front of Portland public library on Saturday for two hours without supervision and on one Sunday per month with supervision. They currently live in seclusion. I refused to honor the Order and sent the court angry memos. Clearly, the court retaliated. I have not seen my daughter in three years and don't expect to see her any time soon. This is the same court that prides itself as a beacon of justice. The court's behavior is manipulative and mercurial and I am ashamed to call myself a Mainer.
